Cassandra Kaczor approached me back in the middle of December to help with her student-composed and choreographed contemporary ballet. With the help from Western Michigan University’s College of Fine Arts, and the Legacy Grant, Cassandra and her team have been working hard to create a beautiful social awareness piece to fight against the perception of women in the media.

Cutting through the clutter. It seems that every college billboard, video and recruitment campaign says the same thing. “Small classes, you’re not just a number, wonderful campus life, the teachers know your name.” At Kalamazoo Valley, we can fall into that same trap if we’re not careful. While brainstorming our Fall 2012 recruitment campaign, we (Linda Depta and I) stumbled onto a phrase that seemed to fit us, and stood for what we’re all about.
